Barista

Our coffee service is as important as our pastry, and our baristas provide a positive and quality customer experience by providing courteous, friendly and knowledgeable service to customers. Liv Breads is a high volume bakery and coffee shop and we’re looking for experienced baristas with a passion for coffee who are continually searching for that perfectly dialed in shot and micro foam. We offer additional training through our coffee partner, Counter Culture.

Interested in becoming a barista but have no prior experience? Please apply for our Retail Associate position, which provides opportunities to train and move into a barista role.

Job responsibilities:

  • Dial-in espresso machine
  • Prepare coffee and espresso drinks according to our menu, and customer specifications
  • Process sales transactions using a POS (point of sale) and process all forms of payment
  • Maintain display area cleanliness and place products according to display guidelines
  • Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation requirements
  • Work closely as part of a team, communicating with bakers, prep, and managers on a daily basis

Skills and qualifications:

  • at least 6-12 months experience working on a La Marzocco or similar machine
  • Latte art skills are a plus!

Retail Associate

Retail Associates are our primary customer-facing positions, and your role is to ensure a positive and quality customer experience by providing courteous, friendly and knowledgeable service to customers and team-members.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with friendly, courteous and knowledgeable service
  • Process sales transactions using a POS (point of sale) and process all forms of payment
  • Maintain display area cleanliness and place products according to display guidelines
  • Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation requirements
  • Work opening and closing shifts
  • Package bakery products
  • Work closely as part of a team, communicating with bakers, prep, and managers on a daily basis

Skills and qualifications:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to work on your feet for an extended period
  • Ability to stay calm and focused in a busy environment
  • Available to work flexible hours including mornings, weekends and holidays

Job type: full- or part-time, but early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends are a must. This is not a 9-5 job!

Shift Leader

Liv Breads is seeking a Shift Leader to assist in supervision and training of the Front of House Retail Associates. In this role, you will be responsible for opening and closing the bakery, motivating and training team members, and providing exemplary customer service.  

This is a great position for someone with significant prior customer service experience in the hospitality industry, ready to move into a leadership role.

Cold Line Prep Cook

The Prep Cook will work as part of a cohesive team to produce daily sandwich, salad, and soup pars, as well as work with the baking staff to prep ingredients for bread and pastry.

Responsibilities

  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
  • Wash and peel ingredients
  • Prepare salads and sandwiches according to recipes; package to-go items
  • Maintain the prep area before and after use
  • Monitor stock
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly, following FIFO
  • Check quality of ingredients
  • Work with Cold Line Team Lead and owners to determine quantities for sandwiches, salads, etc.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations

Requirements

  • Ability to follow recipe
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Methodological and clean work habits, knife skills
  • Must be able to multi-task to plan day’s menu item
  • Available to work weekends and holidays

Experience: one year of kitchen experience


Bread Baker

Overview

  • The Bread Baker position will join a small team of bakers focused on mixing, shaping and baking all daily bread bakes, including sourdoughs, focaccia, brioche, and challah.
  • Bakers work as part of a cohesive team, under the direction of the co-owner/Head Baker. Candidates should have experience scaling, dividing, mixing, shaping and baking artisan breads, as well as being able to keep the quality of the products consistent.
  • While we prefer someone with experience in a 'from scratch bakery,' we will also consider training the right individual. Must be highly motivated, organized,mature, neat and team-oriented.
  • This is a year-round, full-time, early morning position (shifts start between 4-5)
  • Weekend and holiday availability

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily bread baking and scaling, mixing, shaping requirements for sale both in the bakery, as well as for wholesaling
  • Ensure quality standards and overall product consistency
  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the bakery and compliance with all health department regulations

Requirements

  • 6 months full-time baking experience preferred but not required
  • Must be available to work night shift, early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds

Pastry Baker

The Pastry Baker works as part of a team responsible for all viennoiserie and cake and cookie prep and production. As our specialty is laminated dough, we prefer a candidate with prior sheeter experience. However, we will train for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare laminated dough, such as croissant, danish, puff pastry
  • Shape laminated product, such as croissant, babka, rugelach, Danish
  • Prepare cakes and cookies
  • Assist with special orders and holiday production
  • Maintain overall cleanliness of the bakery and compliance with all health department regulations
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team of pastry and bread bakers

Requirements

  • At least 6 months working in a professional kitchen using commercial mixers and ovens
  • Experience scaling recipes
  • Precise and organized
  • Experience with a sheeter preferred
  • Culinary degree preferred
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Team player
  • Passion for pastry and learning
