Why Do You Charge for Handled Bags?

Since 2023, we’ve implemented a small fee for certain packaging items at both locations:

• Branded handled bag: $1.00
• Branded pastry box: $2.00

This decision supports our commitment to sustainability and aligns with many New Jersey businesses that charge for single-use bags. We encourage guests to bring reusable bags when picking up larger orders.

All items are still thoughtfully packaged for carryout at no extra cost. For example, pastries are placed in pastry bags, sandwiches are wrapped and bagged, and items like quiche or loaf cakes are boxed as needed—these standard packaging costs are already included in the price of your purchase.

The additional fee only applies if you request a handled bag for carrying multiple items or choose one of our branded pastry boxes.

Since introducing this policy, we’ve reduced usage by over 100,000 single-use bags annually across our two locations. This is part of our broader sustainability efforts, which include:

• Using plant-based straws
• Choosing recyclable or compostable packaging whenever possible
• Minimizing waste
• Supporting local organizations, including those addressing food insecurity
